The Science-Art Centre

Initiating the 21st Century Renaissance

1984

The academic acknowledgement that my Creative Physics paper was published over a year earlier than a similar Creative Physics paper by the molecular biologist, Dr George Ainsworth-Land, was the evidence submitted to the Director of the South Australian Ministry of Science and Technology, Dr Peter Ellyard, who acknowledged in writing that our work was similar. This was mentioned in The 1986 letter from Max Bourke of the Office of the General Manager of Australia Council as:

"Discussions between a member of staff and Peter suggest that Mr Pope is deeply committed to creative physics and its potential, although it appears often to be difficult to get to the essence of Pope's arguments. Besides his paintings, Peter is aware of little original work done, although Pope undoubtedly has his supporters."

Furthermore, Max Bourke wrote: "As a scientist turned arts administrator I find great difficulty in following the scientific arguments and I believe others may have similar difficulties."

This attitude demonstrates a bureaucratic ignorance as ABC National Television in 1979 included Robert Pope's Science-Art theories into their eight-part series, The Scientists - Profiles of Discovery, subtitled Pope the Catalyst.

This stupidity was accompanied by outright hostility by many Australian influential scientists.
